i can't say that the 16 days spent in Cambodia was a life-changing experience, but it has definitely made me learn how to be contented with whatever i have in Singapore--smooth roads, flushing system, conducive education facilties etc.
i feel blessed to be given a chance for experiencing many first times-- building toilets, wells, fence and teaching. those were'nt as easy as i thought. Again, they made me appreciate the fact that back here in Singapore , everything is provided for.
During the ride out of village on one of the nights, i realised how lucky we Singaporeans are, able to seek help immediately should one falls ill. Whereas for these villagers who have no resources and money, falling seriously ill would have probably meant a totally different situation.
the thought of staying out of my comfort zone for 16 days was nerve wrecking initially, but it soon dawned on me that my worries were completely unnecessary! it was the friendships forged that made the whole trip seemed so shockingly short and enjoyable. i truly miss the times we spent together.Hopefully, when we see each other in school next year, we will be more than a mere hi-bye friend.
hoorays to our friendship! :D
love, rachel(:
